Monthly Meeting Info

The BUZZ club meets on the first Thursday of most months at 7:00pm at the Bread Company, located at 706 S. Goodwin Ave in Urbana. Beginners and new members are always welcome and you do not need to be a student to join, though you must be at least 21 years old to participate in any activities involving alcohol.

A meeting typically starts with a discussion of new business including upcoming events and social opportunities. Often there is a technical topic for the month that is also presented at the meeting. This topic may be a brewing technique, a specific style of beer, or a spotlight on a particular brewing ingredient. The meeting always concludes with a sampling of homebrewed beers, meads, and wines that members bring to the meeting. Every brewer has a chance to tell us about what they brought and then receives honest feedback about their creation. Meetings often finish with a tasting of rare or otherwise notable commercial creations.

Membership Info

The Boneyard Union of Zymurgical Zealots is the official homebrew club of the University of Illinois with member approved by-laws. Membership dues in the BUZZ club are $15 per year. BUZZ membership has many benefits:

• The opportunity to interact with a large number of experienced brewers.
• Constructive feedback about your brewing and the chance to taste a wide range of styles.
• Participation in bulk purchases in which the members pool their orders for brewing ingredients or equipment and are able to get a substantial discount.

At the beginning of every school year, new officers are elected and dues are collected for the coming year.
